Romanian Universities Welcome Young Palestinians – Romanian President
"I mentioned (in talks with Mahmoud Abbas – e.n.) Romania’s willingness to resume education programs in Romanian universities for young Palestinians starting next year," Basescu said.
In his turn, Abbas thanked Basescu for this stance.
"We cannot forget that young Palestinians studied in Romanian schools and became messengers of Romanian science and culture in the world and I thank president Traian Basescu for the willingness stated regarding the reprise of education programs for young Palestinians in Romanian universities," Abbas said.
The President of the Palestinian National Authority is on a two-day official visit to Romania at the invitation of Romanian president Basescu.
Abbas will also hold official talks with the leaders of the two Chambers of Parliament and with the leader of the Muslim community in Romania.
