Retailer Carrefour To Launch Third Supermarket In Bucharest

Retailer Carrefour will open Tuesday its third supermarket in Romania's capital Bucharest, serving some 2,500 households and 7,500 people, the company announced.

The store will span over 704 square meters and will have 58 employees.

Carrefour currently operates 22 hypermarkets and 26 supermarkets in Romania.

Carrefour sales rose 7.3% in Romania between January and March this year, to EUR269 million, from EUR250 million in the same interval of 2009.

At a constant currency exchange rate, Carrefour sales in Romania rose 3.6%.
