Eight Trains Cancelled In Romania Due To Snow, Blizzards, Rail Traffic Sees Major Delays
CFR Calatori general manager Liviu Pescarasu said delays are registered for five trains covering the country’s central region, three covering the west, 16 covering the east and ten in the southeast. He said the biggest delays, of 600 – 700 minutes, were reported for three trains on the Bucharest-Constanta route.
Several trains covering this route got stuck on the way Tuesday night and about 40 passengers waited for ten hours on a train in the middle of a field before they were taken away by cars and taken to a local railway police station.
Railway traffic was impaired because trees fell on the track and eight locomotives broke down.
Romania is under a code yellow weather warning for heavy snow and blizzards, expected until Thursday afternoon.
