Basescu Used The Parliament For Electoral Purposes – Social Democrat Head

Geoana said Basescu’s speech regarding the situation in Moldova had "a strong component of message to Romania."
"I still believe this topic (Moldova) must not be dragged into local politics and I also believe the president somehow wanted to use the Parliament as backdrop to launch a local message using an electoral logic. (…) Today, in a way, gas was poured unto the fire," he said.
Geoana said it would have been better for Basescu to consult the parties before delivering his speech.
"I believe that for such a hard speech that engages Romania on an international level and in relations with Moldova, the head of state would have had the obligation to consult the parties," Geoana said.
