Meteorologists Extend Code Yellow Rainfall Alert For N, NE, C Romania Until Monday Morning

Romanian meteorologists extended the code yellow alert for rain until Monday at 9 a.m. for 16 counties in the northern, northeastern and the central part of the country.

According to weather administration authority ANM, Maramures, Bistrita – Nasaud, Suceava, Botosani, Iasi, Neamt, Harghita, Mures, Brasov, Bacau, Vaslui, Galati, Covasna, Vrancea, Buzau and Prahova are the 16 counties placed under a code yellow advisory for rainfall.

Twenty-three people have died in the severe floods that hit Romania over the past two weeks and thousands have been evacuated from their homes.

Recent heavy rainfall affected 3,903 individual farms, yards and gardens, 396 residences and 607 basements countrywide. The floods submerged over 12,300 hectares of farmland and 3,622 hectares of pastures and damaged 24 company buildings, 16 roads, over 500 bridges and 6,616 fountains.
