Romanian leu-denominated loans were at RON80.15 billion end-September, up a mere 0.1% from August, while hard currency loans, when expressed in lei, inched down 0.1% on the month to RON118.76 billion. Expressed in euros, foreign currency loans rose 0.4% on the month in September.
Compared with the same month of 2008, hard currency loans, when expressed in lei, were up 9.1% in September, while leu-denominated loans fell 6.1%. When expressed in euros, forex-denominated loans dropped 3% on the year in September.
In September, government credit was at RON43 billion, down 3.4% in real terms from August. However, compared with September 2008, government credit surged 255.7%, according to central bank data.
Deposits of non-government resident customers rose 0.2% on the month in September to RON161.7 billion.
