Arabian businessman Fatih Taher, owner of several companies in Romania, Friday told MEDIAFAX that his company Griro SA mulls buying over 51% in FC Rapid Bucharest football club.

"We are not interested in buying a 40% stake. We are only interested in buying the majority stake. We can be partners with George Copos (Rapid’s owner – e.n.) at FC Rapid, but we want to own the majority stake. We want to get hold of over 51%," said Taher.

Taher said he is not currently negotiating with Copos on the matter, stressing they are only discussing the potential takeover of FC Rapid.

Taher said he would attend Rapid’s game with Poli Timisoara on Sunday, stressing he is eager to see Rapid's performance in the field.
