“Romania now has the chance to hope for economic growth, to stop the economic fall brought about by the crisis and to restart the economic engines via two large sectors: the infrastructure sector and the absorption of European funds, which are major priorities,” Boc said in a meeting with local authorities in Bistrita-Nasaud, northern Romania.

“Our objective is to ensure the 20% stipulated in the budget for infrastructure investments. This helps economy as the private sector needs demand until it comes back to normal,” Boc said.

Regarding the absorption of EU funds, Boc referred to the need of projects to be implemented in Romania.

“(…) This is the amplest session of project submission, which will benefit from EUR700 million. It’s the last session as we’ve brought this year the funds for 2013 in order to absorb the money in 2009 and 2010, when the implementation process is likely to begin. That is why, if there are problems at the level of local administrations, I’d like you to inform me on the notifications from the environment authorities, particularly from the Inspectorate for Constructions,” Boc said.
