Friday, the leu’s indicative was 4.2048 versus the euro.
The leu also strengthened against the US dollar, advancing around 2% to 2.9947 units. A stronger rate, of 2.9817 units versus the greenback was recorded on March 18, 2010.
Romania’s currency opened slightly higher at 4.184/4.185 per euro, from 4.185/4.187 per euro at Friday’s closing. It further gained ground, hitting an early high at 4.182 units.
The leu later stabilized near 4.1835/4.1845 to the euro.
On the money market Monday, overnight rates fell to 3.9%-4.4% a year, from 4.3%-4.8% a year in the previous session.
