ARIS officials said Romania maintains and strengthens its position of leader in attracting foreign direct investments in the southeastern Europe.
Vosganian said Thursday Romania’s foreign direct investments are expected to reach a record high in 2008, totaling over EUR10 billion.
"We could hope to reach the EUR10 billion psychological record in 2008, given the EUR4.8 billion worth of foreign direct investments registered in the first six months, annual data pointing to an increase in the second half of the year," Vosganian said.
According to ARIS representatives, the major sectors attracting foreign investments in 2008 were car industry, construction materials, IT, electronics, wood, renewable energy and services.
In 2007, Romania attracted EUR7 billion worth of foreign direct investments.
