Romanian Leu Up Vs Euro, Exch Rate Strongest In 2 Weeks

A higher indicative was computed by the central bank on January 9, at RON4.2127 to the euro.

On Monday, the central bank computed an indicative of RON4.2634 to the euro, 0.64% stronger than Friday’s exchange rate.

On the forex market, the leu opened at RON4.2250/RON4.300 against the euro, slightly higher from Monday’s closing value of RON4.2290 versus the euro.

Then it started to appreciate and at around GMT 0805, it was trading at RON4.2150/RON4.2180 to the euro, dealers said.

At mid-trade, the trend was reversed and the leu started to lose ground, following higher euro demand.

On the money market, overnight interest rates were at 14-16% on the year.
