Romanian Authorities Close 11 Roads Over Winter

The Romanian Road Company will close, during the winter, national road sectors with low traffic and high risk of massive snowfalls, since snow removal operations in these roads would involve high costs.

Car traffic will be restricted on level IV viability roads, namely those subject to massive snowfalls and traffic below 500 cars per day.

 

This category includes National Road (DN) 7C – Transfagaraşanul – (between Piscu Negru and Bâlea Cascada), DN 65D (on the Albota – Bascov sector), DN 67C (Rânca – Curpat), DN 7A (Obârşia Lotrului – Petroşani), DN 66A (Câmpu lui Neag – Valea Cernei), DN 17D (Rodna – Cârlibaba), DN 2L (Soveja – Lepşa), DN 2M (Andreiaşu – Nereju), DN 2N (between km 8 amd the locality Bogza), DN 2N (Jitia – Buzau county limits), respectively DN 2R (Vintileasa – Bahnele).

 

Maintenance for these roads during winter involves costs higher than the ones needed for the redirection of traffic, according to the Road Company.

 

Snow will be removed from these roads in exceptional cases, when human lives are at stake.
