The decision, signed by Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu, was published Friday in the Official Gazette.
The Romanian Government on Thursday decided to reorganize the country’s IT&C regulator ANRCTI and changed its name into National Communications Agency, officials of the Ministry of Communications said.
Following the move, ANRCTI’s freshly reinstated president, Dan Georgescu, can no longer return to office.
ANRCTI was restructured to have a “single body managing the state’s resources in the field, namely telephony numbers, the radio spectrum, the internet domains .ro,” secretary of state with the Ministry of Communications, Constantin Tedorescu, said Thursday.
Tariceanu in August dismissed Georgescu from his position as head of ANRCTI, citing the findings of an internal audit.
However, the Bucharest Court of Appeals on Thursday overturned the premier’s decision and ruled Georgescu was free to return to office.
