Virgin Media Apologizes To Romanian Embassy For Offensive Euro-2008 Clip

British company Virgin Media on Thursday presented its apologies for “any offense” it may have brought Romanians with a Euro-2008 spot picturing Romania’s squad against several men wearing thick golden necklaces in the background.

Earlier Thursday, the Romanian Embassy to London has notified the company about the clip and requested the picture of the men be removed.
 
Virgin Media apologized for the inconvenience and assured the embassy that any offense was unintended. The company said it took immediate steps in removing the clip from Youtube and pledge to remake the scene in question and republish the video.  
 
Virgin Media’s Euro-2008 spots include famous images of the participant countries, such as the Eiffel Tower for France, a renowned district in the Netherlands, the Colliseum – for the Italian team and, for Romania, a photo of fat men wearing golden necklaces.
