Romanian President Traian Basescu said Tuesday on public television Etno TV Romania is past the peak of the economic crisis, adding the population will have higher pensions and wages by 2014.

Basescu said Romania overcame the peak of the economic crisis and the country is stepping toward economic revival, adding economy will return to growth in the second quarter of 2010.

Basescu said Romanians’ quality of life is higher than in 2004 and they will have much higher wages and pensions in 2014.

„Romanians live better. Five years ago, when I was elected president, the average wage stood at 830 lei (EUR1=RON4.2961). Today the average wage is of RON1835. The average pension was of RON230. Today it stands at RON715. The population’s revenue increased,” Basescu said.
