„We all want a lending relaunch. Unfortunately, there are no new projects, just three banks have more than five new projects,” Vladescu said. He added lenders are currently working on restructuring the already granted loans.

ARB president Radu Ghetea said the discussions with the finance minister targeted 10-11 issues, among which some proposals on accessing EU funds, the revival of lending and economic growth, a reappraisal of banking and cooperation between the tax authority ANAF and banks on tax collection.

On Wednesday, Romania’s central bank cut, for the second time this year, the key rate by 50 basis points to 7%, in an attempt to restart the lending activity and support a battered economy.
