Romanian Pres Signs Decrees Appointing Dan Nica Deputy Premier, Interior Min

Romanian president Traian Basescu Wednesday signed the decrees appointing Dan Nica interior minister and deputy prime minister.

Basescu also signed the decree revoking him from the position of interim interior minister.

Nica will be sworn in as interior minister at 5 p.m. at the presidential palace.

 Nica was cleared by Parliament Wednesday 310 to 113 votes to become interior minister.

Lawmakers cast 310 votes in favor of Nica becoming interior minister, 113 were against and seven abstained.

"The Parliament approves the Government reshuffle and the appointment of Dan Nica in the positions of deputy prime minister and interior minister," Chamber of Deputies secretary Dumitru Pardau said.
