About 300 Romanian citizens who spent their holiday in Egypt have been blocked at the Hurghada airport since morning, due to some problems between a Tunisian airline which was supposed to ensure their return flight and the Egyptian authorities.

People close to the matter said Romanian Embassy to Cairo officials told the Romanians who demanded information on the incident that the embassy’s work program was over and they should address the question again the following day.

A representative of tourism company Kartago Tours, based in Cluj-Napoca told MEDIAFAX Tuesday evening that the Koral Blue airline’s flight authorization was suspended and the plane which had to fly back to Romania this morning cannot leave the airport in Hurghada.

The source said the tourism company will try to find another plane to operate the flight.

About 100 Romanian tourists countrywide, who had booked for a flight to Hurghada with the same airline, have been waiting at the Cluj-Napoca international airport since morning, after they were told the flight was delayed.

The head of the consumer protection authority in Cluj, Mircea Radu, said the institution will make investigations into the incident and will apply fines if they receive any notification from passengers.
