Romanian President Signs Interior Min Dismissal, Appoints Democrat Liberal Interim

Romania’s center-left coalition government of democrat liberals and social democrats has been on the verge of a split since Monday, when democrat liberal Prime Minister Emil Boc fired Nica.

Social democrats refused to appoint a replacement or even an interim and threatened to leave the government if the president signed their minister’s dismissal.

According to social democrats’ statements on Wednesday, they are to hand in their resignations within half an hour.
