The project dubbed „Passport for Consumers of Tourist Services – Objective and independent guide promoting Romania’s image as incontestable and attractive Euro-destination,” is part of the Regional Operational Program co-funded by the European Union via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The project, which unfolds between October 20, 2009 and October 19, 2011, amounts to RON992,725, with the bulk of RON670,000 being covered from European Union funds and the remainder from own funds and state budget funds.

In a press release Thursday, the association said the project targets to develop and strengthen Romania’s tourism sector in a bid to boost the confidence of Romanian and foreign tourists in local tourist services. It also targets to promote the rights and obligations of consumers of tourist services in Romania, as well as to promote the country’s main tourist attractions to make Romania a highly attractive tourist destination.

Tourists will find information on their rights and obligations as consumers of tourist services in Romania in a tourist guide that will be drafted and printed in all languages of European Union member states, as well as in Russian, Turkish, Arabic and Hebrew.

A web portal will also be set up in Romanian and English and will include the information contained in the guide.
