Romanian Pres Refuses To Appoint Fmr Head Lidia Barbulescu For Supreme Court President

On October 22, Romania’s High Council of Magistrates voted former council head Lidia Barbulescu to be president of the country’s High Court of Justice, but the appointment is to be made by the head of state.

On November 5, Basescu said he hasn’t received the file on Lidia Barbulescu, proposed to head of the country’s Supreme Court, but he will make a decision that will serve Romanians’ interests.

„I haven’t yet received Lidia Barbulescu’s file from the High Council of Magistrates. I will make the political gesture that serves Romanians’ interests,” Basescu said.
