Romania Senate: Child-Rearing Benefits To Be Paid Within 60 Days Since Submission Of Applications

Senators on Monday adopted, with the amendments proposed by the Senate’s labor committee, a legislative proposition amending Government Emergency Ordinance no. 148/2005 supporting families in child rearing.

Senators rejected, however, a proposition which sets that exceeding the 60-day legal deadline shall be deemed contravention and punished with fines ranging from 500 lei (EUR1=RON4.2465) and RON1,000, depending on the number of days of delay.

The Senate was the first chamber notified on the draft law.
