Romanian Leu Indicative Rate Hits New All Time Low At RON4.3098 Vs Euro

The Romanian central bank published Wednesday an exchange rate of RON4.3098 to the euro, marking a new all-time low for the Romanian leu against the European currency.

The previous historical low  was set Tuesday, when the central bank published an exchange rate of RON4.3025 to the euro.

Romanian leu has lost more than 8% since the beginning of the year.

The leu apreciated in the first hour of the Wednesday inter-bank trading session, following the regional markets, a banking dealer said.

Afterwards, the leu lost ground, weakening to around RON4.32 to the euro, while the emerging currencies were still strnger versius the euro, the dealer added.

On the forex market, at around GMT 1100, the leu was trading at RON4.3170/RON4.3230 to the euro.
