Romanian Shrs Open Higher On Positive Intl Trend

Romanian shares opened higher Friday, following the positive trend on international markets, with the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, gaining ground.

At around GMT 0739, the bourse’s composite index BET-C rose 1.38% from Thursday’s closing value and the Bucharest bourse’s 10-share blue-chip index BET was up 1%.

The BET-FI index, which tracks the five SIFs, rose 0.63%.

BET-NG, including the companies operating in energy sector and related utilities, was up 1.29% while BET-XT, which tracks the most liquid 25 listed companies, including the SIFs, was up 0.66%.

The market’s total traded value was 2.69 million lei (EUR1= 3.7752) at around GMT 0739.

Investment fund SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO) was the top traded issuer so far Friday, with its shares up 1.14%.

Other top traded issuers on the bourse early Thursday were investment fund SIF Banat Crisana (SIF1.RO), Banca Romana pentru Dezvoltare – Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO), SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO), oil company Petrom (SNP.RO).
