Romania Is Not To Impose Free Traveling Restrictions To Own Citizens-President
“Romania will never agree to imposing traveling restrictions to its own citizens. This theory, recently aired by an EU-founding member that came up with expulsion as a solution, will never find an echo with the Romanian authorities,” Basescu said during a meeting with representatives of Spanish independent organization "Foro nueva economia."
“Romania will not become some type of prison to its own citizens only because one or several countries have more or less fair approaches under the European rules,” Basescu added.
He said a possible solution to lower the number of Romanian workers abroad would be for foreign companies that invest in Romania to offer same salaries as in their countries of origin.
Thus, Romania’s workforce would increase and European countries, such as Spain, would solve their issues concerning workforce surplus, Basescu said.
“Not by expulsion, you are not Italy,” Basescu told Spanish representatives.
