Ion Bazac said in Romania there is no transmission of the virus on a community level, adding no additional prevention measures are necessary.
The minister added the population needs to be aware that this is a new virus that is still being researched.
The dignitary reminded that Romania has a national plan of intervention in case of a pandemic, and all required measures will be applied “on sector levels” should the case require it.
Bazac added outbreak sources will be carefully monitored, and communication with international structures will be intensified.
"Life needs to unfold normally, but the measures are a priority. The population needs to observe all prevention measures with strictness," Bazac said.
He added the World Health Organization does not recommend the closing of borders, but measures taken upon entering and exiting countries need to be observed.
The World Health Organization announced Thursday that level 6, maximum alert, has been instated for the AH1N1 virus pandemic, which means the appearance of the first pandemic of the 21st century, according to organization director Margaret Chan, quoted by AFP.
