Romanian foreign affairs minister Cristian Diaconescu said the evacuation process was successfully completed, adding the Romanian state vouched for the three people who only have Palestinian citizenship in order to keep families together.

The 20 people were subject to a thorough four-hour checkup by Israeli and Palestinian authorities and afterward headed for Jordan where the staff of Romania’s Embassy to Amman was waiting for them.

On January 5, Romania’s Foreign Ministry said the first bus with foreign citizens who received approval from Israeli authorities to leave Gaza via Erez was forced to return to Gaza City because of rocket fire.
