Magyar Democratic Union Prefers To Enter Government, Rather In Coalition With Liberals
Marko Bela arrived for talks with president Traian Basescu together with Laszlo Borbely and Kelemen Hunor.
The Magyar leader told the press his party wants to contribute to the investiture of a stable and competent Government.
When asked whether the Magyar Democratic Union is prepared to be in opposition party, Bela replied: “It is desirable to be part of the government, but yes, if we don’t have adequate partners and a program the party would accept”.
He said the party is ready to collaborate with the National Liberal Party, as it has done so far, but preferably in the governing coalition.
Prime Minister and liberal leader Calin Tariceanu said Tuesday the National Liberal Party had talks with the Magyar Democratic Union, and decided to become partners for the new Government as well.
“We’ve had a series of talks with out partners in the Union. We both noted we cooperated well in the Government coalition that has functioned until now, and decided to continue this partnership. In the following talks, the National Liberal Party will permanently consult with the Magyar Democratic Union, and shall have a common stand, as real partners,” Tariceanu said.
