Dozens of people gathered Thursday morning in the yard of the Peles Castle to witness the return of Romania’s King Mihai and the royal family on their domain in Sinaia, central Romania, after an absence of 60 years.

In the afternoon, the king will visit the Sinaia mayoralty, where he will receive the keys to the town.
 
At noon, the royal family will have a private meeting with guests, among whom former foreign affairs minister Adrian Cioroianu, the president of the Romanian Academy Ionel Haiduc, academy member Dan Berindei, amabassdors and embassy officials , Sinaia mayor Vlad Oprea and the Brasov county prefect.
 
In February 2007, the Romanian government returned the royal domain to the royal family.
 
The royal family announced its plans to keep part of Pelisor Castle as a museum.
