The company selected through bid will draft in the next 18 months the design papers to get the licenses and agreements on building an aerial electrical line of 400 kV between Romania and Serbia.

The paperwork will worth 5.7 million lei (EUR1=RON 3.6422).

Transelectrica said in April it will collaborate with Austria’s holding Verbund to develop the power supply networks, in order to rise the security and power supply levels.

Through the collaboration program, the two companies aim to develop the power networks in South East Europe, in order to create and consolidate the electricity corridors between the Central and South Eastern European regions.

Transelectrica administrates the country’s electricity network made up of about 9,000 kilometers of power lines.

The company posted a RON82.1 million net profit in the first quarter of 2008, up 93.7% from the same period a year before.
