“Given that access to houses is severely limited because of the financial crisis, ANL’s program to build houses via mortgage credit is a priority and it depends on identifying required land and rendering it available to the agency,” ANL said in a statement.
The program is unfolded by ANL, together with local authorities, construction companies and lenders.
ANL also unfolds a program to build houses and rent them to young people.
Romania’s Development Ministry, which coordinates the housing Agency, announced 6,000 apartments might be delivered through ANL’s youth and social dwellings program in 2009, with 10,000 more units to be available in 2010.
According to Development Minister Vasile Blaga, 26,000 houses were build with public funds between 2001 and 2008, of which 22,5000 were built by ANL.
Some 2,761 dwellings were delivered in 2007.
