Romanian Anticorruption Prosecutors Distrain Estates Of Graft Probed Businessmen
According to the sources cited, the National Anticorruption Department announced Wednesday that a destraint will be placed on EUR30,000 of Locic’s estate and EUR200,000 of Casuneanu’s.
Locic was called in by anticorruption prosecutors Wednesday morning for further hearings. Several hearings will take place Wednesday at the National Anticorruption Department in Locic and Voicu’s graft case.
During the past few days, prosecutors assigned to the case have heard Casuneanu, social democrat vice-president of a local branch Maria Schutz, social democrat senator Mircea Geoana, the former head prosecutor with the Court of Sector 1 in capital Bucharest Mircea Ene, and other magistrates.
Voicu was arrested late-March on charges of influence peddling and fraud. Later, Costiniu, Locic and Casuneanu were also placed under arrest in the same case, but a Court panel decided they would be investigated at large.
