The Basarab Passage In Bucharest Is 30-35% Complete – Constructor
Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu met Friday with Astaldi representatives to inspect the state of works.
According to Oprescu, the city completed the expropriation procedures for the land and property found on the Basarab Passage site.
According to the coordinator of the expropriation department at the Basarab objective, Carmen Tease, among the 16 buildings left to expropriate, four owners accepted the money proposed by city hall, three failed to appear before the expropriation commission and nine refused the sums proposed by the city.
However, this does not delay works on the passage, since those refusing the sums will turn to courts in order to change the sums offered for their property.
The coordinator of works on the Basarab construction yard said expropriations need to be hurried construction will start or the pillars on both sides of the river Dambovita.
Oprescu also explained new traffic restrictions will be applied in the area, but he added when works over the river are complete, traffic will improve.
Ion addition, Astaldi representatives said the passage will be complete in December 2010, if there aren’t any financial problems with the payment of the workers.
The initial cost of the project was RON471.63 million, but it was added with RON87.18 million.
The total length of the passage will be 1,900 meters, and it will be a traffic hub between six main roads: Nicolae Titulescu Bvd., Calea Grivitei, Calea Plevnei, Calea Giulesti, Splaiul Independentei, Grozavesti Street, Bulevardul Vasile Milea. Works started in October 2006.
