"I’ve accepted the position of government spokesman. I was honored to receive the proposition from mister (Prime Minister – e.n.) Boc. I am proud to be able to continue my collaboration with him,” Niculescu said.
He added that, as government spokesman, he plans to hold meetings with the media each morning to answer questions
"I think the government needs to have a transparent relationship with the media, it’s important for citizens to know what’s going on at the government,” Niculescu said.
He will take over his new position in a week or two, after he finishes certain actions he initiated at the European Parliament.
Niculescu, 33, graduated from the faculty of Political Science in Cluj Napoca. He worked as a journalist and was the personal adviser of current development minister Vasile Blaga, at the time when Blaga was interior minister. In 2007, Niculescu was elected member of the European Parliament from the part of the Democratic Liberal Party.
Niculescu was the spokesman of the Cluj-Napoca mayoralty, during the first term as mayor of current Prime Minister Emil Boc.
