Romanian Leu Keeps Dnward Trend Vs Euro

The leu opened at RON4.0475/RON4.0525 against the euro, then, at around GMT 0835, it was trading at RON4.0635/RON4.0666 to the euro, dealers said.

On the money market, overnight interest rates were at 13.18-14.50% on the year.

The leu closed at around RON4.0590/RON4.0600 to the euro Monday, weaker compared with RON4.0150/RON4.0500 against the euro in the last trade of 2008.

The central bank computed on Monday an indicative of RON4.096 to the euro and RON2.9427 to the US dollar.
