The tax will triple starting with December 15 for all cars not corresponding to the minimal Euro 5 norms, are not electric or hybrid, or have Euro 4 engines of over 2,000 cc.

After Euro 1 engines, the lowest tax will be collected for Euro 3 engines, made between 2000 and 2004, and non Euro cars, made before 1992.

The highest pollution tax will be paid by those buying Euro 2 cars made between 1996 and 2000.

The 1.4 liter engines will have a tax of EUR750 for Euro 1 norms. For an engine with the same cylinder capacity, but which corresponds to Euro 3 norms, the tax will near some EUR1,300, respectively EUR2,200 for Non Euro engines. A 1,400 cc Euro 2 engine will be taxed with some EUR2,800, which is the highest value of all compared to the sums for the other Euro norm sums on 1.4 liter engines.

Cars using such engines include Opel Astra F and Volkswagen Golf III.

For cars with 1,600 cc engines the tax will reach EUR1,320 for Euro 1 and EUR2,180 for Euro 3. For Non Euro engines the tax will be EUR3,960, while for Euro 2 the tax will be slightly higher than EUR4,800.

Buyers of imported used cars with 2 liter engines will pay a tax of EUR2,100 for Euro 1 cars (such as Opel Vectra A and BMW Series 3) or some EUR7,700 de for Euro 2 engines.

Models such as Opel Vectra B, Volkswagen Passat, BMW Series 3 and Audi A4 are some of the Euro 2 cars for which the tax is higher than EUR7,500, which is 2-3 times higher than the purchase price.

For an Euro 3 2 liter engine the tax will be EUR3,600, while for Non Euro the tax will reach EUR6,300.

A 3,000 cc Euro 1 engine will require a tax of some EUR6,300. If the engine is Euro 3 the tax will reach EUR9,400, for Non Euro the tax will reach EUR19,000, while for Euro 2 engines the value will go beyond EUR25,000, which is 10-15 times more than the purchase price.
