Registrations Of New Renault, Dacia Cars In Germany Down 34.2% In First 9 Mos

Registrations of new Renault and Dacia cars in Germany fell 34.2%, to 114,113 units, in the first nine months of 2010, compared with the 27.5% decline of the German car market, to 2.16 million units.

Only three of the 32 carmakers under survey saw a positive trend, namely, Land Rover (up 33.4%), Jaguar (9%) and Nissan-Infiniti (6.4%), according to data from Germany’s motor vehicle department KBA.

French Group Renault, owner of Romanian Automobile Dacia, reported a 5.3% market share in the January- September interval, compared with 5.4% in the first eight months of the year. Volkswagen (with a 21.7% market share), Mercedes (9.4%), BMW-Mini (9%), Opel (7.8%), Audi (7.4%) and Ford (6.8%) topped Dacia and Renault in terms of sales.

In September, cumulated registrations of new Renault and Dacia cars dropped by 31.7%, to 11,277 units, while the overall German car market fell 17.8%, to 259,748 units.

Renault’s market share was down 4.3%, compared with 6% in August. Nine of the 32 carmakers under survey saw an increase in sales, namely, Mitsubishi (51%), BMW-Mini (17.7%), Land Rover (17.6%), Porsche (14.6%), Smart (12.4%), Audi (11.8%), Chevrolet (9.7%), Seat (7.6%) and Mercedes (3.1).

In September, only Volkswagen (21.1%), Mercedes (10.8%), Opel (8.8%), BMW-Mini (8.3%), Audi (6.6%) and Ford (6.6%) outranked Renault-Dacia in terms of market share.

In 2009, Germany became the main export market of Romanian Dacia cars, with 84,708 units sold, up 231.3% from 2008, due to the cash for clunkers program conducted by the German Government.
