The insurance policy will pay EUR60,000 or EUR40,000 in case of disability as a result of combat, depending on severity. The insurer will also cover the cost of transport back to Romania (up to EUR14,000), hospital expenses up to EUR60/day and the costs of medicine and treatment up to EUR6,000.
The auction to award the voluntary life insurance contract covering Defense Ministry staff in the event of injury, illness, disability or death during and as a result of combat, or during a mission on home soil or abroad, will take place on April 29.
The Defense Ministry said the frame agreement should enter force on August 26.
Insurance companies which have provided life insurance to Romanian Defense Ministry personnel in the past include Ardaf and Astra.
