Weather authorities could issue advisories for excessive heat next week, he said, adding temperatures will frequently exceed 30 degrees Celsius throughout the country and will be coupled with high humidity, gusty wind, thunderstorms and quick but heavy rains.

He said unstable weather is expected to settle in as of Sunday night, especially in the northern and western parts of the country, on the border with Hungary.

Winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour and heavy rain are expected Tuesday afternoon in southeastern Romania, Wednesday in eastern Romania and Thursday in the south and south-west.

The weather is also expected to get hotter over the next weekend, Sandu said.
