Romania’s Lower Chamber Chairman, Marcel Ciolacu, announced on Wednesday that Mohaci and Popa will stop being part of the PSD parliamentary group and will switch their allegiances to Pro Europe, the future group of the Pro Romania party, when it will be registered in the next parliamentary session.
The two MPs previously announced a similar move in December last year, only to return to PSD one week later.
Pro Romania currently does not have a recognized parliamentary group, with its MPs acting as unaffiliated. The party will register a group under the name of Pro Europe starting with the next parliamentary session.
The group is led by former Romanian social-democrat Prime Minister Victor Ponta, and has attracted more than 20 MPs from the ruling coalition since its formation in 2018.
