Romanian-Moldovan Small Border Traffic Agreement Effective As Of Friday – FM
The ministry said the agreement stipulates visa-free access for two to five years, for Romanian and Moldovan citizens who have been living close to the Moldovan-Romanian border for at least one year.
It added the agreement also stipulates that crossing the border will require a valid passport and a small-scale border traffic permit.
The Romanian government approved in its meeting Tuesday an emergency decree regulating the status of foreigners in Romania. The regulations adopted by the government are in line with the Schengen Agreement, which entitles Romania, as European Union member state, to voice exceptions from the normal border traffic rules.
Late January this year, Romanian President Traian Basescu passed the law ratifying the agreement, which was signed in December 2009 by Romania’s Prime Minister Emil Boc and Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
