Romanian Tourism, Real Estate Firms To Be Taxed 0.5% Of Income Annually

Romanian hotels, restaurants and real estate firms will pay 0.5% of their income annually to the state, as tax per profit, but will not pay less than 6,500 lei (EUR1=RON4.2198), ministry sources told MEDIAFAX Friday.

“Taxpayers carrying out these activities, (…) will have to pay 0.5% of their income to the state annually, at least RON6,500,” sources said, citing a new draft emergency ordinance.

The measure will affect activities related to renting and leasing, investigation and protection, wholesale and retail, automobile and motorcycle maintenance and repair, IT services, legal services and accounting, the food and drink industry, centralized administrative offices, management and management consulting, tourism agencies and tour operators, secretariat, sports and leisure, road services and others.

Companies currently pay a flat tax of 16% of their profit annually.
