Market growth was mainly sustained by sales of imported brands, which were up 51.8% January through October, to 165,884 cars.
The main Romanian carmaker, Automobile Dacia, sold nearly 78,000 cars in the first ten months of the year, securing a 30.2% market share, while Daewoo Automobile Romania sold 14,349 cars, with a 5.6% market share.
Total car sales on the Romanian market, including commercial vehicles, increased 23,5% in the first ten months compared to the same period last year, to 299,248 units.
Dacia’s total sales stood at 83,912 units with a 28% market share, while Daewoo sold a total 14,387 units, reaching a 4.8% market share.
Top imported brands were Renault, with 24,292 cars (+40.8%), followed by Volkswagen, with 19,249 units (+59.9%), Skoda, with 18,885 units (+14%) and Opel, with 15,234 units (+80,4%).
