Romanian Automobile Dacia Extends Work Schedule On Higher Demand
Dacia employees will work on Saturday, May 16, in three shifts in order to honor orders and allow car parts suppliers to adjust to the new work schedule, a press release of Dacia read.
The decision on the new work schedule that also includes Saturdays was made within the monthly reunion between the company’s management and unions on May 12.
End April 2009, Dacia said it would increase output starting June 15, to 1.340 units per day from current 1,200 units, on higher export and import demands. Starting June 15, Dacia will also hire an additional 500 people to cope with a more alert production process.
In October, November and December 2008, as well as in January 2009, Dacia halted production for nearly one month, on lower market demand.
In 2008, Dacia produced 242,415 units, up 8.8% on the year. Car models Logan MCV (break) and Logan Sedan accounted for 70% of total sales, followed by Sandero, its newest car model.
