Bucharest Bourse Should Focus On Financing Cos - Ctrl Bk Head

The Bucharest bourse needs to focus on its primary function, namely providing an alternative means of financing for Romanian companies, which would enable it to become a barometer of the real economy, central bank governor Mugur Isarescu said Tuesday.

"You should return to the bourse's main function, namely providing an alternative means of financing and capitalization for Romanian companies. (…) In order to become a barometer of Romanian economy, the bourse needs to be a truly viable way of financing and capitalization for Romanian economy," Isarescu said at the bourse's 15th anniversary.

He added that the banks need to know the local companies have other financing options.

Isarescu also said the bourse needs to promote "transparency, financial discipline and credibility," as well as to educate the public in terms of financial and economic education.
