The Social Democrat Party’s (PSD) Bucharest Sector 4 branch decided on Friday to exclude the capital’s deputy mayor, Aurelian Badulescu, from the organization, its executive chairman Cristian Zarescu told MEDIAFAX.

Contacted by MEDIAFAX, Badulescu said that he will challenge the decision in court.
“I’m on a trip to Wien, found out about it from the press. What can I say, after the latest general council meeting and the shame cast upon me, what more can I say? I will remain there, I will challenge the decision, take it to the courts,” said the deputy mayor.
The deputy mayor kept his City Hall office after ruling party councilors failed to gain enough support in the capital’s General Council to dismiss him on Wednesday.
In a special meeting, the council held a secret vote in which 28 councilors voted to dismiss Badulescu, while nine voted against the initiative.
A two-thirds majority of the total number of councilors, meaning at least 37 votes in favor of the dismissal, were needed to revoke Badulescu from office.
