The Bucharest electoral office accepted 17 candidates out of 27 for the general mayor seat in Romania’s capital city Bucharest, rejecting all independent candidates.

"We had 27 candidates, of which 24 were backed by political parties and three were independent. Of the 24, 17 were accepted and seven were rejected. The three independent candidacies were also rejected," electoral office head Constantin Marino Marin told MEDIAFAX.
He added 25 lists of candidates have been submitted for the Bucharest General Council.
The office accepted the candidacies of Alexandru Vladu (Romanian People’s Party, or PPDR), Adrian Vilau (People’s Social Christian Union, or UPSC), Daniel Fuciu (New Generation Party, or PNGCD), Vasile Blaga (Democratic Liberal Party, or PDL), Ludovic Orban (Liberal Party, or PNL), Cristian Diaconescu (Social Democratic party, or PSD), Dinu Gheorghe (Pensioners’ and Social Protection Party, or PPPS), Codrin Stefanescu (Conservative Party, or PC), Aurelian Pavelescu (People’s Christian Democratic Party, pr PNTCD), Cozmin Gusa (National Initiative Party, or PIN), Dragos Frumosu (Pensioners’ Union), Verginia Vedinas (Greater Romania Party, or PRM), Lucia Stanciu (Socialist Alliance), Gheorghe Ionicescu (Green Party), Nicolae Varbanciu (Romanian Socialist Party, or PSR), Mariana Andrei (Revival of Romania Party, or PRR) and Ioana Ion (European Romania Party, or PRE).
Rejected candidates may appeal the decisions in court within 48 hours.
