Bucharest Ex-Mayor, Employees To Pay RON5M Damages To City Hall
The former general mayor of Bucharest, Adrean Videanu, is forced to pay, along with another 23 employees of Bucharest City Hall, some five million lei (EUR1 = RON4.1786), money spent inefficiently on works at the Lia Manoliu stadium and when setting up sidewalk curbs.

One year ago, the Court of Accounts notified the Bucharest Court regarding several irregularities found at City Hall regarding a purchase contract involving a piece of property in Romanian commune Mihailesti, unjustified payments for road works, losses caused in the social security budget and the delayed payment of sums to the budget.
The Bucharest Court allowed on May 28 the motion filed by the Court of Accounts and forced Mihutu Luminita, Sommer Vladimir, Sosoaca Bogdan, Constantinescu Florentina, Iordache Adrian, Halipa Veronica, Ion Florea, Panaitescu Simona, Vaduva Dan, Videanu Adriean, Dragoi Alexandru Bogdan, Busuioc Camelia and Mitu Monica to pay RON4,478,328.45 in updated damages to Bucharest City Hall.
In addition, the court decided City Hall is to transfer the sums recovered to the local budget as financial restitutions from the financing of previous years.
At the same time, the court decided Udriste Gheorghe, Sommer Vladimir, Constantinescu Florentina, Busuioc Camelia, Ilie Valeriu, Mitu Monica, Falan Viviana, Titu Valentin and Badoiu Elena are to pay RON32,602.562 to City Hall, a sum updated when the compensation sentence was rendered.
The ruling can be challenged in the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
