Some 200 independent cab drivers were protesting Friday morning in center Bucharest, saying the law was drafted without consulting unions and professional associations in the sector.

Union leaders said at the beginning of the rally that they waited three hours on Thursday for a permit to organize a march up to the government’s headquarters, but the mayoralties denied them such a permit. However, leaders proposed to have the march anyway and pay the potential fine they would get.

Protesters are expected to file a memo with the government at noon, which includes all their complaints.
