Over 400 workers with RATB set off a spontaneous protest rally Wednesday night and other several hundred workers have joined the rally Thursday morning.
Protesters demand an increase in the company's budget and wages, the reduction of the company's administrative service staff and an increase in the number of buses on Saturdays, allowing them to put in extra hours of work.
Aron stressed that the company's budget will be higher if RATB discards the 12,000 free public transport subscriptions granted so far to public administration employees in Bucharest, if RATB ticket prices are hiked to 1.5 lei (EUR1=RON4.0958), from the current RON1.3, and subscriptions hiked to RON55, from the current RON50.
RATB management, unionists and Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu convene at 10:00 a.m. for talks on workers' demands.
